Specialist Data Science

Your Tasks

  • Take functional ownership of specific data domains
  • Consolidate expertise across existing data sources and apply various methods in Data Engineering and Analytics
  • Independently develop and maintain global pricing tools (primarily R-based, partly Python-based) based on business specifications provided by the central Pricing Actuarial team
  • Design and implement Data Science and Analytics use cases independently
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain Data Analytics products in the cloud
  • Expand the Analytics Engineering tool stack and automate HDI Global processes (e.g., for local line-of-business analyses and risk assessments)
  • Further develop Data Engineering processes and standards
  • Support business units in defining use cases and analyzing internal and external data

Your Profile

  • Successfully completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Statistics, Data Science, or a comparable qualification
  • Initial professional experience in controlling, actuarial work, or a related field, ideally within industrial insurance
  • Project experience in Data Science, Data Warehousing, or Business Intelligence environments; experience with GitLab CI/CD and Docker is desirable
  • Strong understanding of insurance-specific processes and solid knowledge of Data Science methods
  • Initial knowledge of insurance lines and products within a data domain is advantageous, along with experience in data modeling, data workflows, performance optimization, ETL implementation, cloud technologies, and APIs
  • Experience in generating statistical insights from large datasets
  • Strong technical orientation with proven software development expertise, particularly in R, SQL, and Python
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills, especially in quickly understanding complex topics
  • High standards of excellence in project delivery
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, combined with initiative, commitment, and an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
