Strategic Underwriter

Your Tasks

  • Functional point of contact for the assigned countries: France, Greece, and the UK (Retail), as well as execution of monthly performance dialogues with the assigned countries
  • Monitoring of relevant KPIs, including retention, profitability, exposure, NatCat limits, rate development, and market trends
  • Regular segmentations to identify portfolio opportunities and weaknesses
  • Derivation and support of measures to improve profitability and portfolio management
  • Ensuring adherence to and further development of property underwriting standards and guidelines
  • Contribution to tools, processes, and steering instruments in line with the global strategy, as well as support in harmonizing methods, frameworks, and processes in the European context
  • Support in training and upskilling initiatives (e.g., via UW Academy), including technical contributions and knowledge sharing, as well as strengthening collaboration within the European Property UW community
  • Sparring partner for local underwriters on portfolio, pricing, methodology, and system-related questions
  • Close cooperation with local underwriting units, portfolio steering, risk engineering (HRC), and other central functions
  • Preparation of status reports and decision documents for the Center of Excellence Property Europe

Your Profile

  • Completed insurance‑technical training
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally a Master’s – alternatively qualification as Insurance Specialist (Versicherungsfachwirt:in) or Insurance Business Administrator (Versicherungsbetriebswirt:in)
  • Several years of experience in industrial property insurance underwriting or related functions
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, precise and structured communication, as well as the ability to prepare complex topics in a target‑group‑appropriate manner
  • High level of independence, solution orientation, and sense of responsibility
  • High adaptability and openness to change, as well as an innovative mindset and forward‑thinking approach
  • Strong interest in future‑oriented trends in AI & Analytics
  • Lived TOP and TEC values and a team‑oriented mindset
  • Very good command of English; knowledge of French is advantageous
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe
