Specialist Underwriting (Industry/Special)

Your Tasks

  • Development, implementation, and management of global business strategies, including business plans, risk appetite, and capacity planning, in close collaboration with local teams.
  • Strategic support for the Global Head in planning, implementation, monitoring, and communication of strategic initiatives as well as new business developments.
  • Further development of underwriting frameworks, guidelines, and standards, including country- and line of business-specific adaptations, as well as support in monitoring compliance with regulations.
  • Portfolio management and performance management, including portfolio reviews, P&L monitoring, KPI definition, controlling, as well as planning and forecasting.
  • Support in risk assessment within underwriting, for key accounts and strategic deviations, including analysis, global benchmarking, and feedback to local underwriting teams.
  • Providing technical underwriting expertise and participating in and/or leading internal and external expert groups and initiatives.
  • Development, execution, and coordination of general and specific training measures, including knowledge sharing, best practices, mentoring, and UW Academy formats.

Your Profile

  • Completed vocational training in insurance and finance ("Kaufmann/Kauffrau für Versicherungen und Finanzen") with further qualification as Insurance Specialist ("Versicherungsfachwirt:in") or Insurance Business Administrator ("Versicherungsbetriebswirt:in"), or a degree in economics, engineering, natural sciences, law, or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of experience in industrial or specialty underwriting or related functions
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, precise and structured communication, and the ability to prepare complex issues in a manner appropriate to the target audience
  • High degree of independence, solution orientation, and sense of responsibility
  • High adaptability and willingness to embrace change, as well as innovative thinking and proactive work approach
  • Strong interest in forward-looking trends in AI & Analytics
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English skills
  • Willingness to travel abroad occasionally
